CREATION VIDEO AWARDS 2010
REGULATIONS
The competition is open to all video and media makers. Video works should be original or display a personal approach in which artistic research overshadows technicity.
PRE-SELECTION
1. No entry fee will be charged.
2. Selection is open to 2 works maximum per artist. Video works should not be realised before 2009.
3. Video must be submitted for selection on Quicktime file or AVI, DV uncompressed (720x576 or close) or HD (1980x1080), burnt on a DVD Rom (more technical
details) before October 2th, 2009.
Each video must be labelled with the following information (labels on the dvd and the case) :
Title, director’s name and surname, duration, B&W or colour, soundtrack, subtitles. Altered copies and other formats will not be considered.
The files can also be sent via wesite such as filecentral.se, megaupload.com...
4. Each entry should be sent with the following documents, written in French and English when necessary :
• submission form, which should bear the hand-written words “read and approved” above the signature, and the video should be posted,
• a curriculum vitae (résumé) and a full list of works, awards and exhibitions should be sent by mail,
• one or two photos (Tiff or Jpeg, 300 dpi) of the work for communication by mail,
• a pdf of the filled submission by mail form.
Every uncompleted or not readable form will not be considered.
SELECTION (for the competition)
5. The results of the preselection will be sent by email (& by a post mail for the videos of the competition)
Each video may enter :
- the competition (Prix de la Création vidéo Award)
- the off competition : Videothèque éphémère (Video and media Temporary Library, private screenings on monitors, free access for general public and professionals) • screenings for young
public.
6. Each video using English will be submitted with French subtitles.
Each video using a language other than English will be submitted with English & French subtitles.
7. Every artist selected for the competition will be offered two hotel nights during the screenings period (From March 16th to 19th). Note : one artist per video.
SCREENINGS AND FORMAT, SHIPPINGS
8. When artists have confirmation of their selection, they must send :
A BETA SP PAL, or Mini DV PAL, or MiniDVCam PAL, Quicktime file or AVI, DV uncompressed (720x576 or close), or HD (1980x1080) burnt on a DVD Rom - more technical details here - (other formats are
NOT acceptable) for the official screenings.
The files can also be sent by websites such as filecentral.se, megaupload.com...
9. Every video will be sent at the expense and sole risk of the candidates, who hereby discharge the organization from any liability whatsoever, including loss of or damage when they are returned
to the artists concerned.
Copy for exhibition will not be returned unless specifically requested by the applicant and only if sufficient International Reply Postage Coupons are provided to cover return expenses :
France : 6 coupons
Western Europe : 17 IRC (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Great-Britain, Greece , Irland, Island, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino,
Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican & other related territories).
Other in Europe - Maghreb : 21 IRC
Africa (except Maghreb), Canada, USA, Near and Middle East : 24 IRC.
Other destination : 27 IRC
No return will be at the charge of the organizers. No return will be made later than September 30th, 2011.
SCREENING AGREEMENT / DOCUMENTATION
10. A professional jury and an additional university jury will award prizes and nominations. The awards presentation will take place on March 19th, 2011 : Prix du Conseil Général du Puy de Dôme,
Prix de la ville de Clermont-Ferrand & Prix du Jeune Spectateur (Fondation Varenne).
11. No fees will be paid for the festival screenings. Videos might be used for the promotion of the festival.
12. Every selected work might be presented in others events, with the artist's previous agreement.
13. Every awarded or nominated work might be selected for promotion purposes in cultural events in France or abroad. The artists will be notified each time and their agreement asked. No
commercial use will be made.
14. Every work selected for competition will enter the VIDEOFORMES DIGITAL ARCHIVES unless otherwise clearly stated in the submitted form. The works will also enter a database which will be
web-accessible (www.videoformes.com) and a the 24-25 time based media (www.24-25.fr). Unless clearly stated on the entry form, the videos in the databse will be displayed on the web (flv, 320x240
pixels).
THE COMPLETED ENTRY FORM REPRESENTS THE CANDIDATE'S CONSENT TO THE ABOVE RULES AND REGULATIONS. SHOULD ANY ITEMS BE MISSING IN THE FILE, SUBMISSION WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED
